Overview of the Working Group
The TU Dortmund University campus is located near the Dortmund-West motorway interchange, where the A45 (Sauerlandlinie) crosses the B1/A40 (Ruhrschnellweg). The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to Campus South, while the Dortmund-Dorstfeld exit on the A40 leads to Campus North. The university is signposted at both exits.
The "Dortmund Universität" S-train station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S1 line runs to Dortmund Central Station and—in the opposite direction—to Düsseldorf Central Station (via Bochum, Essen, and Duisburg) at 15- or 30-minute intervals. The university can also be reached via bus lines 445, 447, and 462. Timetable information is available on the Rhein-Ruhr Transport Association (VRR) website, and DSW21 also provides an interactive route map.
The Skytrain is one of the landmarks of TU Dortmund University. Line 1 operates at 10-minute intervals between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Center, via Campus South and the Dortmund Universität S-Bahn station, while Line 2 shuttles between Campus North and Campus South every five minutes. It covers this route in two minutes.
From Dortmund Airport, you can reach Dortmund Central Station in just over 20 minutes via the AirportExpress and continue to the university by S-train. Düsseldorf Airport, located approximately 60 kilometers away, offers a wider range of international flight connections and can be reached directly by S-train from the university station.
